Duties:  The hospitalist will function as a member of the inter-disciplinary team providing clinical care to patients in an inpatient setting. As an attending physician, the responsibilities include providing medical evaluation and directing overall management of patients in collaboration with other members of the health care team. The hospitalist will be expected to provide Urgent Care during the shift or limited hour coverage for the Emergency Department depending on the setting. Support from pulmonary/crucial care, cardiology, neurology, and other medical and surgical specialties is available on a 24/7 basis by phone and/or Tele ICU. As a physician you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care outcomes; providing a full range of care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems; and accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.

Work Schedule: Duty hours are from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, rotating days and night shifts. The incumbent will work seven days, then will have the following seven days off.

Travel Required:  Occasional Travel to other facilities may be required.

Key Job Requirements:

  • Must pass pre-employment examination.
  • Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Background and/or Security Investigation required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

Qualifications - Basic Requirements:

  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience: Preference will be given to candidates who are board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
